then 9/14 we will be continuing the theme of anarchist queer theory with the reading from pink & black attack #6, “preliminary notes on procreation…” brought to us by the copying skills of jean (yay jean!).

so last tuesday was the end of the insurgent summer campaign, and we kept up with it all the way through.
for the future, we discussed some topics that we were interested in looking into, and the first of them is queer theory – so we’ll be reading toward the queerest insurrection.
i expect we’ll be looking into more of pink and black’s zines too, as we go on.

we’re now on letters 9.
last week we had some of the notorious child sexuality discussion (the conversation that doesn’t stop giving), as well as revisiting the devil and mythology.

we’re back to reading two letters a week, so for the 3rd we’re reading yarostan 7 and sophia 7. also lee brought in an article by john moore from the magazine social anarchism #20 called prophets of the new world:chomsky, bookchin, & perlman.

the readings are going awesomely, we continue to have lively conversations. last week we talked about objects vs subjects and of course about work.

i hope that we can start doing brief recaps of the whole book at the beginning of each reading group, for the people who haven’t been able to keep up (or just are having difficulty following the time line).
we’re now on sophia’s fifth letter.

we had a lovely and exciting time three days ago – talking about writing as representation and the question of illegalism, what is really revolutionary behavior.
and the food was good too.

for the 13th we’ll be reading the fifth letter by yarostan (sophia’s fifth letter will be the following week, since the letters are getting longer).

on 6/22 we had a solid showing, including a new person who had personal experience in (and was willing to talk about) repression and contradictions in venezuela (and other places) in the past 30 years or so.

we’ll continuing the reading of intro to civil war, which had an extremely lively start last night… last night was a lot of explanation and questions, next week will perhaps be more about how this french theory/philosophy is relevant to what we’re doing or would like to be doing in our lives.
there was confusion about having the very limited ief pamphlet for some people, and the full book for other people, but confusion can be interesting.
food was good as always, special thanks to arielle for bringing so much yumminess.
we also got a mini report back from the bookfair at the very european city of montreal, where people really know their books.
