January 23rd & 30th

January 23rd we will be reading Baudelaire. It will be selections from Les Fleurs du Mal and you can expect to read aloud.

January 30th we will be reading selections about and by G Bataille. This includes “The Gift of Rivalry – Potlach”, “The Place of Violence”, and part of the secondary source “against architecture”.

we will be watching videos, either two shorts (i didn’t catch what they were about) or the old but still very funny Surplus (featuring rice and beans), or perhaps some combination of the above.

also there is no plan for a reading for two weeks from now, so if someone gets inspired, now is the time to act! (or, before the 13th, anyway.) bring readings for us! bend us to your reading will! or maybe we’ll make another run at a good louise michel reading. who can tell.

the reading is the rest of desert (from page 17 to the end of the book -roughly 50 pages). there are probably still copies available at the long haul.
also, this is potluck week. we welcome good food, especially vegan, nut-free, and alcohol-free food.
